Doors

2016, Tontine Lecture Theatre, The Glasgow School of Art

Doors creates an uncanny experience where an everyday gesture appears to acquire a performative apparatus. In a five-minute performance installation, three doors are opened and closed by invisible performers. The doors’ movement is gentle at the start, building momentum as the piece progresses into an unexpected rhythmic dialogue. The room acts as a stage for the doors to perform.

Performative installation, three performers and three doors. Performed by Maria Braender, Kai-Wen Chuang, and Nina Enemark. Images by the author.
